Mary Straub Pargas


Mary is in her final semester of her Masters of Arts in Counseling from Eastern Mennonite University (graduation date April, 2017) and is completing her internship at the Harrisonburg Center for Relational Health. She holds a BA in Applied Health Science with a double major in Education and Public Health and a minor in Biology from Indiana University & University of Louisville.

Mary is a certified yoga therapist, and for the last 17 years has had a successful private practice in the healing arts, specializing in the mind-body approach to integrated therapeutic wellness. As a counselor, Mary feels honored to be working with young adults, adults, couples, children and families. Mary values each client as a unique individual with the potential for empowered, creative change. She works from a person-centered, strength-based perspective using the integrative approach, combing cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, resiliency, and the mind-body approach with an emphasis on self-compassion. Mary specializes in women’s issues and she is passionate about facilitating classes, groups, workshops, and retreats. Mary has lived in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley for 8 years and enjoys traveling internationally to over 30 countries (so far). Hiking and biking are her next favorite activities.
